Assistant Project Manager

Job Description:
We are looking for Assistant Project Managers who will partner with an H&G Systems Senior Project Manager in managing HVAC and/or plumbing construction projects through effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, and forecasting of costs and profitability.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare project budgets
  • Review job estimates
  • Estimate and negotiate change orders
  • Prepare/review submittals
  • Track, forecast, report labor hours and material costs
  • Buyout major equipment and subcontracts
  • Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment/materials
  • Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope and specifications of project contract/subcontract
  • Collaborate with jobsite superintendents to plan, organize and schedule project work including preparation of subcontract/contract integrated project schedule
  • Review contract drawings, detail drawings and specifications
  • Prepare fabrication shop work package including detail drawing review, material takeoff and buyout, and man-hour fabrication budget
  • Collaborate with jobsite superintendents to ensure full compliance with the H&G Systems Safety Program
  • Provide proactive, clear and timely communication to team members
  • Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee’s essential job functions.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering degree desired
  • 5-10 years of experience as a mechanical engineer or a jobsite superintendent desired
  • Plumbing experience desired
  • Healthcare experience desired
  • Experience with applicable codes desired

Job Conditions:
Hours are typically around fifty hours per week to effectively perform this position (7 AM to 5 PM). On occasion, you might need to work more than fifty hours in a given week. However, working during the weekends is rare. Leadership and oversight responsibilities require consistent work start times and work weeks. Work on construction sites will typically have more challenging access and terrain.
